I am trained as a biologist with an MSc in Plant Ecology and a passion for the Canadian North. I have travelled to the Arctic many times, for work, research and for pleasure, and these adventures are reflected in many of my bead designs. Recently I have participated in remote canoe expeditions on the Keele, Yukon, Horton and Great Bear Rivers as both a client and a guide.
I love the tranquility and relative simplicity of the northern ecosystem and try to reflect that in my work. While I am working at the torch to create a northern-inspired bead I get to relive my favourite moments of my trip and put some of that northern energy into the bead!
I began my journey in glass during an evening of stained glass with a collegue in 1984. That was all it took to get me hooked! After about 20 years of stained glass I discovered lampwork beads and a new passion emerged. My beads are created in my studio and showroom at Dragonfly Arts on Broadway in Orangeville, Ontario and this is where you will find the largest collection of my work.
